We are tired, We Marbled Godwits
November 19, 2019
An original poem by drplasticpicker
i am long legged and elegant, my bill straight like a needle pin ever slightly upward tilting and then ends in black
i have come from far away, Canada and then last in Utah and now here with you
it is winter, and you will see me just a few weeks and then I am off to Mexico
i like the company of friends, and we are here and you see us, do you see us drplasticpicker?
do you see us feasting in the shore, roosting for insects and crustaceans , the kelp is good for the insects to breed and live and we eat them.
do you see those dogs coming drplasticpicker DRPLASTICPICKER!!!
RETRIEVER, AUSTRALIAN SHEPHARD, SIBERIAN HUSKY, THEY ARE RUNNING AT US DRPLASTICPIKCER, THEY ARE CHASING US DRPLASTICPICKER
you have a furrowed brow drplasticpicker and we see you see us
you want to shout at those humans that look beautiful but do not care, only care for their dogs and their human love but not for us,
my friends and I feint right and then feint left, and then fly in unison, to land on the other part of the beach, and then those three dogs give chase again
RETRIEVER, AUSTRALIAN SHEPHARD, SIBERIAN HUSKY, They are CHASING US, Us, us – marbled godwits
we are tired, tired, tired
we have further to fly and we are afraid to eat
tell them drplasticpicker, tell them to not chase us, we tire, we marbled godwits, those dogs gave chase
Pachamama will not forgive as we are her children
Public Service Announcement: dogs are supposed to stay leashed in these environmentally sensitive areas where they are endangered shore birds. I believe it’s actually the law. Please respect these rare birds.
