AAP-CA3 Climate Change and Health 2021 Youth Art Exhibition: Children’s Art Council Applications are up

Much of this work on @drplasticpicker, this blog and with American Academy of Pediatrics has been driven by our children. The children we care for in clinic. The children we are raising in our own homes. And the children that will inherit this beautiful planet. The kids who are the ones who “get it” and have showed up for our group beach cleanings.
We are also incorporating the children in our American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Chapter 3 Climate Change and Health Committee work, and applications are now open for the Children’s Art Council. Our committee has commited to hosting a 2021 Spring Youth Art Exhibition surrounding an environmental theme that will be digital and then end in a physical exhibition hopefully spring/summer 2021.
For all the kids that have already approached us about volunteering, we are now accepting official applications. You will be the committee helping to organize and create this Youth Art Exhibition, and we will guide you. Mr. Hakim Tokhi is our post-baccaulreate premedical student who is our AAP-CA3 intern. He is a recent graduate from university and eager to work on climate and health while applying to medical school this year. You will be working with Drs. Andrei Fodoreanu, Sara Valladolid, Sally Kaufman and Plastic Picker.
Thank you for your interest and we look foward to hearing about what you would like to contribute! We hope that we can include all the applicants, but in case there are many intersested. We will have to limit it to 20 children. We plan to continue this in subsequent years, so if we don’t have room this year – we will try to make sure you have a chance next year. If parents have any questions, please feel free to email me at drplasticpicker@gmail.com and NOT through the patient portal.
Deadline in August 10, 2020 at 5PM.
